Paying for care in Leicester

Home care costs and funding

Every care package is different, so we give you a clear personal quote after we understand your needs. Here is how costs work and the ways care at home can be funded.

What affects the cost of home care

Your quote is based on the support you actually need. These are the main things that shape it.

  • Length of each visit

Shorter visits suit tasks like a medication prompt or a quick check in. Longer visits allow time for personal care, meals and company.
  • Number of visits

Some people need one visit a week. Others need help several times a day.
  • Time of day

Early morning, evening and night visits may be priced differently from daytime visits.
  • Weekends and bank holidays

Care on weekends and bank holidays may carry a different rate.
  • Number of carers

If two carers are needed, for example to help you move safely, this will be reflected in your quote.

Personal quotes only

Because every care plan is different, we do not publish a single rate. We will give you a clear written quote after we understand your needs.

There are no hidden extras. Anything that affects your price will be explained before care begins.

Ways to pay for care at home

Many families use more than one route. If you are unsure which applies to you, we are happy to talk it through.

  • Paying privately (self funding)

You arrange and pay for care directly with us. This gives you full choice over your carer visits and how your support is set up.

  • Leicester City Council

If you live in the city, the council can carry out a needs assessment. If you are eligible, a financial assessment will show whether the council will contribute to your care costs.

  • Leicestershire County Council

If you live outside the city boundary, such as in Oadby or Thurmaston, Leicestershire County Council handles needs and financial assessments in the same way.

  • Direct payments

If the council agrees to fund your care, you may be able to receive the money as a direct payment and choose your own care provider.

Funding rules are set by your council and the NHS. We can explain how our care works alongside each route, but we cannot decide eligibility.

Your care assessment

Before we give you a quote, we visit you at home to understand your routine, your needs and what matters to you. Family members are welcome to join. We will explain how the assessment works and confirm any costs before we visit, so there are no surprises.

  • A friendly conversation at home
  • Your preferences, routine and goals
  • A clear written quote afterwards
  • No obligation to go ahead

Useful information about paying for care

Questions about costs

  • It depends on how many visits you need, how long each visit lasts and when visits happen. We will give you a clear personal quote after your care assessment.

  • Possibly. Leicester City Council or Leicestershire County Council can assess your needs and finances to see whether they will contribute.

  • If the council agrees to fund your care, you may be able to use a direct payment to arrange care with us. Please ask our team to confirm.

  • We review your care regularly. If your visits or support change, we will talk to you about any change in cost before it happens.
