Home care in Leicester

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers about arranging care at home for yourself or someone close to you. If you cannot find what you are looking for, our team is happy to help.

Getting started

  • Call our team or send an enquiry online. We will talk through the support you are looking for, answer your questions and arrange a care assessment at a time that suits you.

  • A member of our team visits you at home to understand your routine, your needs and what matters to you. Together we agree what support would help, then we prepare your care plan and a personal quote.

  • It depends on the support you need and carer availability in your area. We will give you an honest idea of start dates when we first speak.

  • Yes. Many enquiries come from adult children. With your parent's agreement, you can make the first contact, join the assessment and help shape their care plan.

  • We support people across Leicester and nearby areas. See our Areas We Cover page or call us to check your postcode.

Care visits

  • Visit lengths depend on your care plan. Shorter visits suit tasks like a medication prompt, while longer visits allow time for personal care, meals and company. We will explain our minimum visit length when we speak.

  • We aim to match you with a small, consistent team of carers so you get to know the people supporting you. Holidays and sickness mean this cannot always be the same person.

  • Please tell us your preference at the assessment. We will do our best to arrange carers you feel comfortable with.

  • Sometimes traffic or an earlier visit can cause a delay. If your carer is running late, our team will aim to let you know and keep you updated.

  • Yes. Let us know if you need extra visits, a different time or a pause in care. We will do our best to adjust your plan, and we review your care regularly.

Costs and funding

  • It depends on how many visits you need, how long each visit lasts and when visits happen. We will give you a clear personal quote after your care assessment.

  • Possibly. Leicester City Council or Leicestershire County Council can assess your needs and finances to see whether they will contribute to your care.

  • If the council agrees to fund your care, you may be able to use a direct payment to arrange care with us. Please ask our team to confirm.

Our carers

  • Yes. Every carer has an enhanced DBS check and references before they start working with clients.

  • New carers complete an induction and training in areas such as safe moving, infection control and safeguarding. They also have regular supervision and refresher training.

Families

  • With your loved one's permission, we keep family members informed about their care. We will agree the best way to stay in touch during the assessment.

  • Yes. Family members are welcome to join the assessment, in person or by phone, so everyone understands the care plan.

Concerns

  • Please talk to us first. Call our office or write to us and we will listen and look into it. If you are not happy with our response, you can contact the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman. You can also share your experience with the Care Quality Commission.
