Home care in Leicester

Home care, also called domiciliary care, means a trained carer visits you at home to help with the parts of the day that have become harder. You stay in your own home, with your own routines, while we help you stay safe, comfortable and independent.

What a home care visit can include

Every visit follows your care plan, so the support you receive is the support you have asked for.

  • Personal care

Help with washing, dressing, grooming and using the toilet, always with dignity and at your pace.
  • Meals and drinks

Preparing breakfast, lunch or tea the way you like it, and making sure you have drinks within reach.
  • Light housework

Washing up, tidying, putting a load of laundry on and keeping your home safe and comfortable.
  • Companionship

Time for a chat, a cup of tea and a catch up, because how you feel matters as much as what gets done.
  • Getting out and about

Support to go for a short walk, pop to the local shop or get ready for an appointment.

Who home care may suit

  • Older adults who want to keep living in the home they love
  • People getting back on their feet after an illness or a hospital stay
  • Adults with physical disabilities or long term conditions
  • Families who want a regular helping hand for a parent or partner
  • Family carers who need support to keep caring without burning out
If you are unsure whether home care is right, talk to us. We will listen and help you think through the options, even if another type of support turns out to be a better fit.

Visits that fit your day

We agree the timing, length and number of visits with you, and we can change them as your needs change.

  • Morning

Help getting up, washed, dressed and ready for the day, with breakfast.

  • Lunchtime

A freshly prepared lunch, a drink and a quick check that everything is going well.

  • Teatime

An evening meal, a tidy round and time for a chat.

  • Evening

Support to get changed, comfortable and settled safely for the night.

Visit lengths are agreed during your assessment. Start dates depend on carer availability in your area.

Care that is personal to you

  • Your routine

If you like your tea at seven and the news at six, we plan around it.

  • Your preferences

How you like things done, from the way you take your toast to where your slippers go, is written into your care plan.

  • Your culture and language

We respect your faith, diet and traditions, and we try to match you with carers who understand what matters to you.

  • Your family

With your permission, loved ones can join your assessment and receive updates about your care.

  • Regular reviews

We check in with you often and review your care plan whenever your needs change.

  • Visit lengths depend on what you need help with. We agree the length and timing of each visit with you during your care assessment.

  • We aim to match you with a small, consistent team of carers so you get to know the people supporting you.
